Dimitri Payet tackles Igor Tudor
Marseille captain Dimitri Payet settled accounts with Igor Tudor just after the latter left the club.
Barely gone, Igor Tudor must already come under attack from his former OM players. And, as you might expect, the one who was the most virulent in his remarks towards the Croatian coach was Dimitri Payet.
Payet does not think about retirement
While he was captain of the team under the orders of Jorge Sampaoli, the Reunionese saw his playing time considerably reduced with the arrival of the former Verona coach at the Vélodrome. During the 2022/2023 campaign, he was only the 15e most used player in the squad with an overall playing time that did not exceed 1000 minutes (961 minutes). He has also been established only 11 times (27 matches played in all).

During the exercise, the former French international did not complain too much about his situation. But now that the season is over and the coach who banned him is no longer there, he didn’t hesitate to do so. “I took a sabbatical,” he said with a dose of humor.
Payet also made it clear that he did not intend to hang up his crampons, when many were sending him to retire. “I’m in good shape,” assured the former Lille player. His contract with OM expires in 2024 and he intends to honor the last year of his lease. But with what status? That’s the big question and it will remain unanswered as long as the new coach of the Phocaeans does not speak on the subject.
