The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ) and imposed a heavy fine on it following the racist behavior of many of its supporters during the qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022 ™ between Hungary and England on September 2, 2021.
After having analyzed and taken into consideration all the circumstances of the case, in particular the seriousness of the incidents observed (racist words and acts, throwing objects, use of pyrotechnic devices, blocking of stairs), the committee decided that MLSZ would play two competitive FIFA matches at home behind closed doors, with the second match being given a two-year suspension.
The commission also imposed a fine of CHF 200,000 on the MLSZ.
