Manchester City: Gabriel Jesus’ agent opens the door to a departure

The recruitment by the Cityzens of Erling Haaland, which was announced by the English club on Tuesday, should make a victim in Manchester City: Gabriel Jesus. Only number 9 in Pep Guardiola’s squad, the Brazilian could look elsewhere this summer, without competing next season with the 21-year-old Norwegian, with impressive statistics (28 goals in 29 games).

Less effective at Manchester City (39 games, 12 goals, 13 assists) this season than Erling Haaland at Dortmund, Gabriel Jesus, who sometimes plays right winger under the orders of his coach, seems to be worried about his playing time next season. Interviewed by the British newspaper The Guardianthe Brazilian’s agent, Marcelo Pettinati, has confirmed the press rumours, which mentioned an interest from Arsenal’s Gunners for the 25-year-old striker: “We have had discussions with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus.” The agent even claimed that many other teams are following the former Palmeiras forward’s situation: “We like the (Arsenal) project, it’s a possibility we are discussing. There are six other clubs interested in Gabriel (Jesus). He is focused on the last games with Manchester City. We will see.”

Looking for a top striker since the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to FC Barcelona last winter, and the upcoming departure of Alexandre Lacazette (30), at the end of his contract and tracked everywhere in Europe (OL, Betis Sevilla, Barça, AS Roma), Arsenal has apparently made Gabriel Jesus its priority for the position of number 9. Fourth in the Premier League, and therefore for the moment qualified for the next edition of the Champions League, Arsenal have a case for the 25-year-old Brazilian. But this one will have to make a choice, since other formations follow him, including Barça, Juventus or Inter. Manchester City are reportedly asking €50m for the forward.
