In the event of a victory or a draw on Saturday evening on the ground of the Alsatian club, whose maintenance is not yet fully acquired mathematically, the Parisian club will be crowned champion of France for the eleventh time in its history (a record). However, the season has been difficult for Christophe Galtier whose future is more than uncertain, mainly because of the premature elimination in the Champions League against Bayern Munich (round of 16, 0-1, 0-2). The reigning French champion sank in 2023 with six defeats in Ligue 1 since January. Facing Strasbourg, PSG will have to deal with many absentees including Marquinhos, Hugo Ekitike and Fabian Ruiz.

Asked this Friday about Lionel Messi before this match in Alsace, Christophe Galtier was very complimentary while some media remain very critical of the Argentinian’s investment. “He has been flawless throughout the season in his investment. Leo is football, I saw him every day in training and in games. He has very interesting stats. I hear the remarks and criticisms, but when you have just had a season like his, for me it is a performance. I think it is a very good season. People always expect a lot more, but it was a lot better than last season”dropped the Parisian coach at a press conference.

Galtier calls for patience in C1

Then asked about the Champions League and eliminations from the round of 16 over the last three seasons, the PSG technician released a very clear message. “Every start of the season, you media, you put favorites for the last four of the Champions League. Only one team can go all the way. This year, we saw that there were surprises. No one would have imagined such a course for such and such a team. To win the C1, you have to be in good shape in February-March, and we weren’t. Important players were absent from these matches”he explained.
