OM: Riolo names the best choice to succeed Tudor
Still looking for a coach, Olympique de Marseille has identified several profiles. Some of them stand out.
On the sidelines of the last match against AC Ajaccio, Igor Tudor had announced his decision not to continue the adventure in Marseille. A choice that is not to displease Dimitri Payet, as he explained in France Football: “He had his ideas, I didn’t enter into his plans, but sometimes I would have liked him to trust me a little more“, he said in particular in an interview published this Saturday.
In any case, Pablo Longoria and Javier Ribalta must now find his successor and for the moment, three names are at the top of the list of Marseille decision-makers: Paulo Fonseca (Lille), Fabio Grosso (Frosinone) and Marcelo Gallardo. The latter must also be OM’s priority, if we are to believe Daniel Riolo.
Riolo campaigns for Gallardo
In After Footballthe journalist explained why the former River Plate coach was the best choice for the Olympians: “Gallardo is still another levelslice Riolo. Gallardo is a coach of the future. For OM, it would be exceptional to have him. If you manage to get that coach, it’s the jackpot for OM. Gallardo obviously doesn’t have many other leads. It has been long awaited in Europe. I think the time has come for him to take on a European team. OM are calling him, there’s no reason he shouldn’t come.”
The Argentinian has a record that speaks for itself. In more than 8 years on the River Plate bench, the former Monegasque won two Copa Libertadores, five Argentine championships and a Copa Sudamericana. He is also courted by his former club, which has just finished in sixth place in Ligue 1.

According to the latest indiscretions, he would also be the favorite of Pablo Longoria but his desire to land with an expanded staff is currently a problem. For his part, Paulo Fonseca should continue with Lille.
