The 26th day of La Liga continued this Saturday afternoon. On the program, an enticing poster between Rayo Vallecano (8th) and Girona (12th), two offensive teams on paper. The Franjirrojos were the first to strike in this meeting by opening the scoring after a superb long shot by Isi Palazon (1-0, 23rd). The Catalans were quick to return to the game by equalizing through Viktor Tsygankov (1-1, 29th). But the locals regained the advantage a few minutes later thanks to a magnificent cross shot from Oscar Trejo (2-1, 34th). The end of the first half was marked by a penalty gag completely missed by Rayo (41st).
Returning from the locker room, the Blanquivermells surprised Andoni Iraola’s men by once again coming back to score with Tsygankov’s double (2-2, 52nd). In a balanced confrontation, with opportunities on both sides, the two teams could not however decide. With this draw therefore, the Rayo Vallecano chained a sixth game without a win and moved away from the European places (8th). For its part, Girona temporarily rises to 11th place in the standings.
