the first words of Schmeichel and Ramsey

OGC Nice presented its new recruits to the press yesterday: Dane Kasper Schmeichel and Welshman Aaron Ramsey, in addition to Alexis Beka Beka, Mattia Vitti and Rares Ilie.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper explained his reasons for leaving Leicester City to join L1 and Nice: “Leicester is a club that I love. The decision to leave family members is difficult. But I’m 35. It was time to challenge myself, with the desire to continue to grow as a player and as a human being, a new language, a new experience for my family. But the main reason was the fact that Ineos shows very high ambitions for Nice. They want to make it a top club. My agent was approached for a very interesting project. (…) I was convinced.” Kasper Schmeichel signed three seasons in Nice.

For his part, Aaron Ramsey revealed that the decision-making was quick: “As soon as Nice got interested in me, they were at the top of my list. I am very happy to be here, to be part of this team. They’re a good team with lots of young, talented and experienced players. I can’t wait to start with all these players and be successful.” The Welshman has banished doubts about his form, while the midfielder played only 18 games last year: “I feel good, I trained well with the team this week. The staff have a serious plan, they are very open. It was nice to be back, start training and get to know my teammates.”
