Unexpected Rennes offensive for a Bundesliga player?

Stade Rennais could bet 10 million euros to secure the services of Ellyes Skhiri, this transfer window. His club, Cologne, would nevertheless try to have him extended.

According to information collected by the Geissblog, Stade Rennais plans to offer 10 million euros to Cologne to convince him to let go of Ellyes Skhiri. Under contract until June 2023, the midfielder could benefit from an exit voucher, if he does not extend his commitment with the German formation. Discussions are underway for a new lease, but nothing is certain. This amount offered by the Bretons could satisfy its leaders and be enough to conclude the operation.

Skhiri will be the sole decision maker

Ellyes Skhiri has been playing in Cologne since the summer of 2019, when he was recruited from Montpellier in exchange for a sum of 6 million euros. The Tunisian international (46 caps, 3 goals) has since taken part in 86 Bundesliga matches, for 10 goals and 7 assists. Philipp Türoff, General Manager of Cologne, recently confirmed that he wanted to keep him, but also indicated that he had courtiers and that the player would be the decision maker of his transfer window.

Rennes does not prospect only in Germany. The Breton leaders would also have an eye on Kim Min-Jae (Fenerbahçe), whom Bruno Genesio knows well for having trained him at Beijing Guoan. Rennes recruiters would also be interested in Jason Denayer, for whom they even launched an offensive a few days ago. Finally, the name of Steve Mandanda (OM) was also mentioned, while Alfred Gomis proved to be rather disappointing this season. In the departures department, Nayef Aguerd has joined West Ham in a transfer of 35 million euros.

This exercise, Ellyes Skhiri has scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist in 23 appearances in all competitions. The native of Lunel experienced several physical glitches, particularly in the thigh and knee.
