Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, the two PSG strikers, have explained their controversial gestures to the Argentinian goalkeeper.

The World Cup in Qatar ended more than a month ago. But, its outcome continues to make people talk. Both with regard to the match itself, with in particular the recent statements made by Randal Kolo Muani, and in relation to the Argentine festivities that followed.

Messi and Mbappé explained themselves

Emiliano Martinez, the last bulwark of Albiceleste, had hit the headlines by repeatedly provoking the French in his various celebrations. Many have condemned this attitude on his part, but this was not the case for Kylian Mbappé. The latter preferred to play the card of indifference.

Nevertheless, we can imagine that the PSG striker must not have appreciated this antics too much on the part of their executioner. Has he spoken to his teammate Lionel Messi since the two men met in Paris? The answer is yes.

The Argentine captain has just given an interview to the daily Ole in which he admitted that the subject of the celebrations had been brought up with his teammate at the club: “Did I speak with Kylian about the final? Yes, yes we talked about the match, the celebrations, how it had been experienced in Argentina during those days when I was on vacation and the celebrations we had… nothing more”. We will not know more about the content of their discussion, but there is no doubt that the two men were able to speak without filter. And it’s a safe bet that the skid of “Dibo” Martinez was at the heart of this exchange.

Messi also made it clear that he sympathized with Mbappé, stressing that losing a World Cup final is never easy.
“I was on the other side too, I had to lose a world final too and I didn’t want to hear about that, what happened. And nothing to do with the World Cup at that time, that’s why I don’t want to talk about it either. But the truth is that there is no problem with Kylian, quite the contrary”, he assured.
